![]() The guitar tone is well suited for rock and metal genres, but can also be used for other styles with some tweaking. The samples are crisp and clear, with a lot of punch and bite. Shreddage 2 sounds very realistic and convincing, especially when played with some expression and variation. The library also features a fretboard monitor that shows you the notes being played on the guitar in real time. You can also use keyswitches to change articulations on the fly or use MIDI CCs to control dynamics and expression. You can adjust parameters such as velocity curve, picking mode, fret preference, string preference, legato mode, portamento speed, palm mute tightness, vibrato speed and depth, and more. One of the main strengths of Shreddage 2 is its advanced scripting engine, which allows you to customize the performance and behavior of the instrument to suit your needs. ![]() PATCHED Impact Soundworks Shreddage 2 KONTAKT - MAGNETRiXX [ The library also includes a built-in signal chain with effects such as distortion, EQ, compression, delay, and reverb, which can be toggled on or off. The guitar was sampled in great detail, with up to 5 layers of palm mutes, up to 8 round robins, and multiple articulations such as single notes, power chords, vibrato, pinch harmonics, hammer-ons, pull-offs, slides, staccato notes, and release noises. The library features a custom-made 7-string electric guitar with a drop G tuning, which gives it a wide range and a heavy sound. It requires 4 GB of disk space and runs on Kontakt 5.3 or higher. Shreddage 2 is a Kontakt Player compatible library, which means you can use it with the free version of Kontakt or the full version. In this article, we will take a closer look at what Shreddage 2 has to offer and how it can enhance your music production. Shreddage 2 aims to improve on the realism and playability of the first version, as well as adding new features and capabilities for lead playing. This virtual instrument is designed to be a true successor to the original Shreddage electric rhythm guitar library, which was released in 2010 and used by thousands of composers and producers all over the world. (If you're looking at Kontakt libraries from either of these developers or anywhere else, before you buy, make sure the one you're looking at doesn't say "Full version of Kontakt required", as that's a pretty significant added expense. If you are looking for a realistic and versatile electric guitar library for Kontakt, you might want to check out Impact Soundworks Shreddage 2. They have a lot of options for different types of guitars, and though I don't have the hands-on experience with these that I do with Shreddage, they sound like quality stuff to me. If you're not necessarily looking for super heavy guitar, I'd consider one of the Kontakt guitar libraries from Orange Tree Samples. Kuassa Creme is my preference, but you've got so many options nowadays with VST support that there are probably some cheaper or even free options that would do the trick. You will definitely want a different amp sim, though, as the Softube (and even the original Line6 that the Shreddage refill's combinators were built with) doesn't really cut it in my experience. The refill versions aren't as full-featured as the original Kontakt versions, but they are an absolute steal at that price, considering the quality of the content and how much the full Kontakt versions each sell for. I've used the Shreddage refill a lot, and also gotten a ton of use out of many of their other refills, though YMMV on those depending on what your needs are. Shreddage uses samples that were recorded dry without amping or other effects, so even though it's built for one particular style, I've found it to be quite versatile depending on the amp settings and effects you combine it with.ĭepending on your needs, you might want to buy Shreddage II ($139) for Kontakt Player, or get Impact Soundworks' refill bundle (currently $75) and contains stripped-down versions of many of their libraries, including Shreddage (not Shreddage II). For heavy rhythm guitar, I've gotten a lot of mileage out of Impact Soundworks' Shreddage processed with Kuassa Creme and some of Kuassa's other effects.
